TAKE THE CREDIT ... earn while you learn! Receive PDH Credit with PumpLearning programs.
Awarding of Professional Development Hours (PDH)
All participants in HI continuing education programs that have been approved for content addressing ethics, technical content, industry standards, and pump industry practices and procedures earn PDH. A PDH is a nationally recognized unit of measurement for participation in a non-credit continuing education experience and a fraction (1/10th) of a Continuing Education Unit (CEU). One PDH is equal to one hour of contact in an organized continuing education experience. An HI continuing education session is any short course, instructor-led Web seminar, or online distance learning program. HI awards continuing education as PDHs as they are accepted by the profession of engineering and most licensing boards for Professional Engineers*.
Documentation and Retention of Records
HI must record participation in continuing education sessions and provide some registration data to state licensing boards**. This includes attendance at instructor-led short courses and Web seminars, and educational sessions at HI meetings. When attending a session participants are required to sign in on an attendance sheet with their printed name, signature, and email address. HI retains all hard-copy attendance sheets for six (6) years. Participants requesting PDH credit for live HI webinars must be documented on a site attendance sheet. Each site will designate an onsite administrator to sign the form certifying the attendance of the individuals listed. The completed form must be sent to HI by the onsite administrator following the conclusion of the webinar. Site attendance sheets for specific webinars can be downloaded at www.PumpLearning.org/webinars. Click here for a sample form. Electronic records are retained by HI for six (6) years.
PDH Certificates
HI Instructor-led Onsite Courses: Participants attending HI short courses led by instructors at a seminar location, will receive a PDH Certificate for the appropriate number of contact hours or PDHs at the conclusion of the course, provided they were present for all seminar time, and receive a passing grade on the final test/assessment.
HI Webinars: Participants attending live HI webinars are documented on a site attendance sheet that must be sent to HI by the onsite administrator following the conclusion of the webinar. Live webinar registration fees include one (1) PDH certificate. Additional certificates can be purchased on the HI e-Store for $19 each at estore.pumps.org/PDH. On-demand webinars are currently not eligible for PDH credit. Participants receive a PDH Certificate within twelve (12) business days.
HI Online Courses (distance learning): Participants purchasing HI online learning programs receive a Certificate of Completion after completing the module/course and receiving a passing grade on the module/course final quiz. The Certificate of Completion is generated automatically by the program upon completion of the quiz.
*The acceptance of continuing education as it applies to fulfillment of state licensing requirements for professional designations is at the pleasure of the individual state licensing boards. It is the responsibility of the individual participant to be knowledgeable about their state requirements. Links to the state licensing boards for the profession of engineering are located on the Web site for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying: www.ncees.org.
**The Hydraulic Institute is an approved provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Professional Engineers in the states of Florida (#004646), Louisiana (CPD-221) and North Carolina(S-0523). The Hydraulic Institute has been approved as a sponsor of Continuing Education (CE) for engineers by the State of New York Education Department (www.op.nysed.gov).
